Overlay technology that enhances the performance of timber building products

Applications

Timber building products are increasingly replacing traditional materials such as concrete, bricks, metal and plastics and the need for more sustainable buildings is changing the way we design our buildings.

Arctek® performance overlays enhance the performance of timber products across multiple applications.

OSB, MDF, plywood and solid wood buildings components are sustainable and incredibly versatile. They are often lighter than other materials which means they can be assembled into modules off-site and relatively easily transported. They are fast and simple to install on site. Arctek®  overlaid panels have low thermal conductivity and can help increase the energy efficiency of our buildings. They can offer a high level of dimensional strength and structural stability.

Arctek®  Technology was developed to enhance the performance of wood-based timber products, providing global manufacturers with better building solutions. Our performance overlay technology is trusted by timber building material manufacturers worldwide. From moisture to UV protection, the performance overlay solution is proven to guard timber and extend its design life. The surface overlay can be specified in a variety of finishes, including smooth, textured, slip and impact resistant, which gives architects the freedom to design better, safer and more efficient buildings.

SIP panels

SIPs, also known as sandwich or composite boards are building components with exceptional thermal performance, low air leakage levels and high load strength.

Arctek®  Technology can help improve the moisture resistance of the exterior sheathing. This means additional protection for the often expensive insulation layer in the core of the SIP. The additional protection for the OSB sheathing ensures its structural integrity.

Roof & wall cassettes

Timber boards used for the manufacture of the roof cassettes must remain moisture free both during construction and after installation. Arctek®  Technology is applied in controlled factory conditions so roof cassettes can be delivered to the site weatherproofed and ready to install, eliminating costly weather related on-site delays.

Arctek®  Technology can improve the moisture resistance of OSB or timber materials used for the manufacture of roof & wall cassettes. It also creates a smooth OSB surface, making it suitable for use as a design feature or to be primed and painted with ease.

Fascias & Soffits

Fascias and soffits are architectural elements found at the roofline, where the roof meets external walls. Soffits are located beneath rafter tails, whilst fascias are horizontal bands at the end of the rafters.

Formwork panels

Traditionally formwork uses timber, steel and fibre glass reinforced plastics to create the mould for concrete to be poured into and formed. In modern construction, highly densified plywood is increasingly used because it is dimensionally strong but lighter, cheaper to produce and easier to install than the alternatives.

Doors

Arctek®  Technology is a high performance overlay solution that masks any defects in the wood panels and increases material compatibility with internal and external paints systems.

Hoarding

The proprietary Arctek® Technology by Arclin is an overlay solution that enhances the moisture resistance, longevity and aesthetic impact of timber manufactured building products used for hoarding.

Exterior decorative boards

Timber exterior decorative boards are used in residential buildings for soffits and siding, doors, accent boards and fascias. Store displays and outdoor marketing boards and signs are also often made from OSB. Arctek®  Technology helps improve the surface of timber products and creates a canvas for the specified decorative design or marketing message. It also offers weatherproofing and UV protection that will keep exterior decorative boards looking new for longer.

General purpose

There are many applications for OSB, MDF and other timber products. General purpose boards used as palette tops, boarding of vans, shed and hobby boards, boarding up, shelving and many more. Arctek® Technology improves the weather resistance of general purpose boards. As it is applied in factory conditions, a general-purpose board with Arctek® Technology can be used right away without the need for sanding, waterproofing or painting.
