Weather Protected Boards

Weather resistant overlays enhance the durability of timber building materials and extends their design life by protecting the wood fibres from the elements. It also helps to reduce the degradation and fading of painted and printed surfaces over time, prolonging the life of surfaces such as exterior cladding & facades.

Arctek® Technology by Arclin is an overlay performance solution fused to a wood based panel such as oriented strand board (OSB), medium-density fibreboard (MDF), particle board or plywood in factory conditions. As a result, the surface of pre-manufactured timber construction components is weather-resistant. The fully customisable overlay enhances performance of wood based panels and helps to protect them from potential damage caused by exposure to the elements.

The timber building components are delivered to site weatherproofed and ready to install. This means delays caused by adverse weather conditions can be eliminated.Arctek® Technology helps expedite the most resource intensive phase of construction, the on-site construction activities and helps reduce the labour and overall project cost. The technology is environmentally sustainable and provides an economical alternative to traditional weatherproofing methods that are frequently applied on site.

Applications for moisture resistant OSB, MDF and plywood

SIP Panels

The costliest material in SIPs and close cassettes is the insulation layer. Arctek® Technology is a moisture resistant performance overlay that provides robust protection from moisture ingress for both the OSB or any other timber manufactured board used as a SIP facer and the insulation.

Formwork Panels

Formwork, or shuttering, is a process of creating a mould from plywood or other timber manufactured materials for concrete to be poured into and formed. Arctek® Technology is a high performance overlay solution that creates a smooth, homogenous surface and acts as a moisture barrier that enhances the quality of formwork timber panels and the finished concrete works. Due to its high masking ability Arctek® formwork solutions are especially suited for rough surfaces like softwood plywood and OSB. Arctek® formwork solutions are very robust and allow for a high number of pours.
